Grow Group Questions-September 5th

September 2, 2021 9:29 PM

Announcements for your Group:

Remind your group about the Marriage Conference that is coming up on October 8-9. Early bird registration ends September 12th. This conference is not just for married couples, but also for engaged couples, dating couples who want to grow in their relationship, and singles who want to develop healthy, happy, fulfilling relationships. This would be a wonderful event to attend together as a Grow Group.

Conversation Starter/Questions (10 minutes)

  • How would you define the word passion or passionately?

Sermon Based Questions (15-20 minutes)

Read Luke 9:23-26, 57-62

  • What would people say you are passionate about? Why? What is the evidence of that?
  • Who do you know that is passionate about Jesus? What are the attributes of their passionate walk with Jesus that made you choose them? How would you like to be more like them?

Read Philippians 3:8: In your opinion, has comfort in temporal things made the American church sluggish and less effective? What things keep us from thinking the way Paul was thinking and living through these verses?

Read Luke 9:25-26: Is there any area of your life that you hold back to keep others from seeing your love for and relationship with Jesus? What factors contribute to you doing that? How does, or does this apply to us through Luke 9:25-26?

Digging Deeper (20-25 minutes)

  • Think back to your answer to the question: “What would people say you are passionate about? Why? What is the evidence of that?” Do those same qualities come out in your own relationship with Jesus? Why or why not?
  • What part of your life, if Jesus asked you to give it up or take a break from it, would cause you to potentially lose contentment? Why?
  • What is "dividing" your attention from your Christian life and keeping you from “Passionately Following Christ?”
    • What is something God would ask you to do to move toward “Passionately Following” more?

Challenge and Prayer (10-15 minutes)

This week wrestle with where your contentment rests and where your life is divided. Lets each share (if we have not already) and pray about one area we can become less divided, that keeps us from “Passionately Following”, in our allegiance to Christ.
