Sermon Discussion - James 5:13-20
- Reflect on the three creation relationships mentioned in Genesis (God and humans, humans and humans, nature and humans).
- How did the fall in Genesis 3 disrupt these relationships?
- How does the story of Adam and Eve's expulsion from the Garden of Eden illustrate God's desire for restoration despite the consequences of sin?
- Based on the sermon, how would you define forgiveness?
- Consider the statement, "Forgiveness is primarily an act of God."
- How does this perspective influence our understanding of forgiveness, both in how we extend it to others and receive it ourselves?
- How does forgiveness remove the barriers to healthy relationships, and what role does it play in restoring broken relationships?
- In what ways does forgiveness differ from forgetting or excusing wrongdoing?
- How can you balance remembering past offenses without allowing them to define your relationships?
- In explaining the motivation for this series, Steve talked about how he has needed to forgive others. Do you know of anyone in your life who you need to forgive?
- What steps can you take to release the expectation of repayment or punishment for offenses committed against you?
Reminder for next week- Read Matthew 18:1-135
