August 1, 2024 3:04 PM
Announcement:
We are taking a break from the Podcast and Grow Group questions for the month of August while we get ready to kick off a NEW podcast format for our New Fall series.
Icebreaker:
Do you have a plan for the month of August as a group? Schedule some fun end of the summer activities!
Sermon Discussion - Read Luke 13:22-30
  • What stood out to you the most from this week's sermon and scripture passage? Why?
  • In Luke 13:22-23, someone asks Jesus if only a few people will be saved.
    • Why do you think this question was asked?
    • What does it reveal about people's expectations of salvation at the time?
  • In verses 25-27, Jesus describes people being shut out after the door is closed. What do you think this symbolizes about the nature of salvation and timing?
  • How does Jesus’ warning about those who ate and drank with him but are still turned away, challenge common assumptions about what it means to know Jesus?
Going Deeper (The Podcast will help with this discussion)
  • Reflect on the statement, "Outward contact with Jesus counts for nothing; what he desires is an inward response."
    • What does that mean?
    • How does this impact the way we live out our faith?
  • What does "making every effort" to enter the narrow door look like in our daily lives and spiritual practices?
Next Steps
  • How can we support and encourage one another in our small group to "make every effort" in our spiritual lives?
Prayer Time:
  • Ask the Lord to grant you the wisdom to discern between knowing about Him and truly knowing Him, and for courage to help each other strive toward this..
Reminder for next week - Read Luke 11:1-13
