August 12, 2021 7:14 PM

Announcements for your Group:

There are no announcements for the group this week.  FOR LEADERS:  please remember to respond to the email that we sent you last week regarding the Grow Group Leader Training. We need all leaders to plan to attend one of those three meetings and invite anyone in your group who might be considering becoming a leader.

Conversation Starter/Questions (10 minutes)

What is your response when hearing the quote below?

THE GOSPEL TRUTH OF CHRIST’S FORGIVENESS APPLIED TO ANGER DISSOLVES ANGER THROUGH GRATITUDE!

What specifically is this Gospel Truth that has the power to make your anger dissolve?

Sermon Based Questions (15-20 minutes)

Read Matt 5:23-24; Ephesians 4:27 and Hebrews 12:14-15

Why is it so important to prioritize reconciliation?

Have you ever let anger linger and paid the price personally?

Read Matt 5:9

How has the world's anger incubator(the divisive things in our culture) impacted you?

How have you impacted the world's anger incubator (as a peacemaker or peace-breaker), particularly in relation to social media but also in other areas?

Digging Deeper (20-25 minutes)

Pastor Thad gave the 7 A's of preparedness when you want to reconcile with someone.

Which is the easiest and most difficult for you and why.

  • Anticipate the conversation
  • Affirm the relationship
  • Avoid if, but and maybe language (classic redirect)
  • Admit or talk about wrong specifically
  • Acknowledge the hurt and say you are sorry
  • Accept the consequences after search for solutions together
  • Alter Your behavior

Read Philippians 2:4 and Matthew 5:21-26, 7:12

Share a situation in which you went to another person to reconcile a hurt or anger problem. What was the outcome and how you would handle that situation now?

Why is it so hard to approach someone who is angry at us? What is it that holds us back?

Recognizing that the root of our anger is often deeper than the immediate offense, how does that affect how we should approach reconciliation differently to experience forgiveness?

Challenge and Prayer (10-15 minutes)

Based on this message, are there any relationships in your life that you realize you need to take a step of faith for forgiveness and reconciliation? (Someone might have already shared this in discussion) Take time to pray specially for those situations/people in your group for God to help them walk that next step.
