Announcement: Neighbor’s Day is a great opportunity to step into what is NEAR. Consider signing up as a Grow Group and serving side by side.

Opening Prayer Prompts For Group:

P-Praise Jesus for being present with His people. He walks among the lampstands.

R- Repent of a specific area of your life you have compromised or slowly given in to the “pull” around you?

A-Ask God to show you the things you can do to restore your love for Him.

Y-Yield by offering yourself again to Jesus as someone who wants to walk closely with Him.

Ice Breaker: What’s something you’ve tried that required balance (literal or figurative), and how did it go?

The Sermon Setup: Read Revelation 2:1-7

  • Jesus walks among the lampstands. He’s present, observing, and evaluating. How should that reality shape the way we think about the church today, both corporately and personally?

  • The early church wasn’t primarily being persecuted but actually tempted to compromise. Where do you think the modern church is most tempted to compromise with the world?

  • It’s possible to be doctrinally right and morally strong, yet spiritually drifting. Where do you see that tension in your own life?

Going Deeper

  • When you think about your “first love” for Jesus, is it different when compared to now? Think about your time with Him, your desire for Him, your awareness of Him, etc.

  • What has most contributed to a shift in your affection for Jesus: busyness, distraction, pain, comfort, routine, or even something good taking His place?

  • What is one small, concrete step you can take this week to move closer to Jesus? (Be specific: time, place, action.)
