- Why do you think “Judge not” is one of the most quoted verses in culture — even among people who don’t follow Jesus?
- Jesus uses hyperbole, or extreme overstatement, to make his point with the splinter/speck, beam/log. Can you name some other examples where Jesus uses hyperbole while teaching?
- What does Jesus reveal about the heart behind condemnation vs. the heart behind lovingly helping someone with a “speck”?
- Why is it harmful for Christians to judge non-Christians by Christian standards?
- How does Paul address this directly in 1 Cor. 5:9–13?
