Grow Group Questions - November 24, 2024

Announcement: Talk about how you can provide gifts for the Foster Families Christmas Gift Drive, either as a group or as individuals.

Icebreaker: If you had to create a meal to symbolize something important in your life, what foods would you include, and what would they represent?

Sermon Discussion: Read Exodus 12:5–16

  • Why do you think God required such specific and symbolic actions for the Passover celebration?
  • How does the concept of being "redeemed" differ from simply escaping or being freed from slavery? Why is this distinction important?
  • How does Jesus’ sacrifice as the "perfect lamb" fulfill the meaning of Passover?
  • Hebrews 9:22 states, "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." How does this underscore the cost of sin and the value of Christ's sacrifice for us?
  • Going Deeper : Read Romans 3:23–25

    • How might we shift from giving "what we can afford" to offering God what is most valuable?
    • How does viewing Communion as a "new Passover" reshape how you approach this practice? What practical ways can you bring a heart of gratitude to the Lord’s Supper and other forms of worship?
    • How can we live with a mindset of being on a journey toward a greater "Promised Land" while still engaging in celebration?

    Next Steps

    • How can our celebrations today reflect both gratitude for what God has done and anticipation of what He will do?
