Grow Group Questions - October 12, 2025

Announcement: Remember 4 service times will begin Oct. 26th
8:15. 9:45, 11:15 in WC / 9:15 in The Chapel.

Example Topical Prayer Guide sample using “PRAY”:
P – Praise God that His law is good, wise, and a reflection of His holy character.
R – Repent/Confess where we’ve reduced obedience to outward appearances.
A – Ask the Holy Spirit to form in us a righteousness deeper than the Pharisees—one that flows from love for God and others.
Y – Yield control of our lives to God’s Spirit, asking Him to shape our motives.

Ice Breaker: What’s one small thing that irrationally drives you nuts—something that gets under your skin more than it probably should?

Discussion Questions:

Read Aloud Matthew 5:21-26
  • Which part of the sermon’s description of anger stood out most to you—that it’s clingy, deadly, or intimacy-hindering? Why?
  • Have you ever found yourself more focused on whether others are following the rules than on the transformation God wants to do in your own heart toward them? How does this passage challenge that way of thinking?
  • Jesus places the responsibility for anger on us rather than those who provoke us. How does that challenge how you’ve responded to conflict in the past?
Going Deeper:
We often believe we have a healthy relationship with God while ignoring or separating it from our broken relationships with other believers—those marked by anger, unforgiveness, or resentment.
  • Why does this mindset contradict the teachings of Jesus?
  • How can this way of thinking lead us to a false sense of our own spiritual health or closeness with God?
  • Why do you think Jesus says we should reconcile before offering worship?
  • What does this suggest about the relationship between our human relationships and our times of worship and prayer?

Application:

  • Is there anyone you sense the Spirit might be prompting you to reconcile with? What would it take for you to take the first step in reconciling?
