Icebreaker: Share about a time when they had to leave something behind—whether it was a childhood toy, a favorite place, a job, or even a habit.
Sermon Discussion: Read Matthew 4:18-22
- Can you relate to the radio illustration—where God is always speaking, but we often “tune out”? What are some attitudes and behaviors that keep us from being able to hear Him?
- From Matthew 4, what do you notice about Jesus’ call to the disciples, both in what Jesus did and in their response to him?
- What did it mean for these fishermen to leave their nets behind? What are some "nets" (comforts, habits, securities) that people today might struggle to leave behind to follow Jesus?

Consider this statement as you answer the following questions: Following Jesus is not the same as just believing in him.
- Has there been a time when following Jesus required you to sacrifice something significant? How did that impact your life?
- We need simplicity and availability in our lives to grow as Christ Followers: How can practicing simplicity make us more open to saying “yes” when help is needed?
- Where is God asking you to be more available—whether in your home, church, workplace, or community?
- The disciples left their livelihoods to follow Jesus. What are some things Jesus might be asking you to leave behind to follow Him more fully today?
