Grow Group Questions - February 9, 2025

Icebreaker: What is one thing you have in common with at least one other person in the group (it could be a favorite food, a shared experience, or even a personality trait).

Sermon Discussion:  Read John 17:20-26
  • Jesus prays that believers "may all be one" as He and the Father are one. What does this reveal about the kind of unity He desires for us?
  • Jesus prays that unity among believers would help the world believe in Him (John 17:21, 23). How have you seen unity (or disunity) in the church affect the way nonbelievers view Jesus?
  • In verses 22-23, Jesus links unity with God’s glory. How does our unity reflect God’s presence and character to the world?
Going Deeper
  • Read Colossians 3:12-15. How do these qualities of love (compassion, kindness, humility, etc.) help us maintain unity?
  • What barriers in our lives prevent us from experiencing unity with others in the church? How can we overcome them?
  • “Unity is not just a feeling but a way of existing.” Practically, how have you seen this practice, or how do you think it can be practiced?
  • Biblical unity is centered on Jesus, not on us. How can we practice keeping Christ at the center of our relationships with other believers?
Next Steps
  • “We who are spiritually one in the family of God should do everything we can to be relationally one." What is one specific way you can pursue unity with someone this week?
