Icebreaker: When you hear the word community, what’s the first image or memory that comes to mind?

Sermon Discussion: Read Acts 2:42-47

  • Why do you think Jesus called people to follow him in community, like what was practiced in Acts 2, rather than inviting them to follow Him individually?
    • What is the difference between "doing life with people" versus simply attending church with them?
    • “A community is a group of people bound by proximity or shared interests who experience a value for mutual care, commitment, and belonging—where people are known, supported, and meaningfully connected”
    • What part of that definition feels most desirable to you? What part feels most challenging?
    • What barriers do you think people face in forming this kind of community—especially in the church?

      Going Deeper:

      • The Message spoke to this tension: “Our deepest wounds come from relationships, but so does our deepest healing.”
      • What has been your past experience with Christian community—has it been encouraging, healing, wounding, or frustrating? How has that affected (for better or worse) how you’ve come into this group?
      • The sermon highlighted 3 key requirements for life-changing Christian community: Small Group Commitment, Intentionality, and Forgiveness.
      • Which of these do you think you are growing in? Which is the hardest for you right now? Why?
      • Community is not just about what we get but also about how we bless others. How does shifting our mindset from "what I receive" to "how I can serve" change our purpose in Christian community?

        Next Steps:

      • How can you rearrange our priorities to ensure that deep relationships within the church remain central to your faith journey?
