Grow Group Questions - May 18, 2025

Announcement: Be on the lookout for your Grow Group survey. Your input helps all of us grow and serve you better
Icebreaker: What’s the most “self-centered” thing you’ve done recently that made you laugh later? (Examples: Hiding snacks from your kids, dodging chores creatively, etc.)
Sermon Discussion: Read Jude 11-23
According to Jude 12–13, how does self-centeredness affect a church community?
Jude urges believers to build themselves up in faith, pray in the Spirit, stay in God’s love, and wait expectantly for Christ.
Verses 22–23 describe three responses to others: Mercy for the wavering, Urgency for the lost, Caution toward the corrupting power of sin
- Which of these responses is most challenging for you? Why?
Going Deeper:
How can you tell when your motivations are becoming more self-centered rather than Christ-centered?
Think about a recent decision you made—what drove it?
- Was it love for God and others, or something else?
Jude says, “Keep yourselves in God’s love” (v. 21), yet we’re also told God keeps us (v. 1). How do you reconcile those two truths?
What does your current prayer life reveal about your dependence on God?
When was the last time you made a decision based on what benefits the Kingdom, not just yourself?
How do you respond when others in the church are struggling with their faith?
- What would it look like to show mercy without compromising truth?
Next Steps:
This week take a look at your habits and determine which ones are feeding your faith right now and which ones are feeding your self-centeredness.
