Icebreaker: Would you rather wash someone’s dirty feet or clean their bathroom?
Sermon Discussion:
- When you hear the word “serving,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
- Serving is not something that we do, it’s a way we approach our lives.
- What’s the difference between serving occasionally vs. living a life of service?
- Serving within the church community is part of experiencing the fullness of God’s design.
- Do you see church as a place to consume or a place to contribute? Why?
Going Deeper: Read Philippians 2:5–8.
- How do you usually determine what to say yes or no to when someone asks for help or service?
- What role does prayer or discernment play in that process?
- Jesus served out of compassion, humility, and with his entire life.
- Which of these comes most naturally to you?
- Which one is the biggest stretch?
- Are you currently living a “life of service” or simply fitting acts of service into your schedule? How can you move more to living a life of service?
- Is there an area of your life where you feel God is inviting you to serve but you're hesitant? What’s holding you back? (Fear? Time? Insecurity? Burnout?)
Next Steps:
- What’s one thing God might be stirring in your heart through this conversation? Is there a way you can use your gifts to serve God’s kingdom?
